Getting to your terminal in Barcelona

Don’t walk — take the Blue Bus!

I always recommend Barcelona for a Mediterranean cruise, because the cruise port is located right downtown, making it more accessible than embarkation ports like Rome (which is actually located in Civitavecchia) and London (Southampton). Just because the port is right downtown doesn’t mean it’s walkable, though! Once you get to the port, you’re faced with a long walk of one or two miles, depending on which terminal your cruise ship is departing from.

My hotel in Barcelona was located just about 1 km from the port, so I knew I didn’t need to take a taxi or Uber. However, I didn’t want to make this walk with my luggage all the way into the cruise port, so I decided to check out the Cruise Bus (known as the “Blue Bus” because the buses are, well, painted blue).

I found the Blue Bus to be easy to find and use. The stop even shows up on a Google search as “Cruise Bus T3 Portbus Stop,” making it easy to get walking directions from your hotel.

The one-way trip from the pickup point into the port and to the cruise terminal was 3 euros. I paid in cash, but you can also buy your tickets in advance online. If you have internet service on your phone, you can also buy by scanning the QR code that’s located on the bus stop sign.

The cruise bus can get a little busy, so make sure that you stay close to your luggage for an easy departure. The bus will drop you right off at your cruise terminal, and you’ll be ready to embark on your cruise adventure!
