A great place to relax with excellent food and drinks!

If you had asked me one week ago, I would have confidently told you that the best all-inclusive beach clubs in Cozumel are Nachi Cocom and Paradise Beach. Those two are still great, but another resort has definitely entered the running — Iberostar Waves.

This is an all-inclusive resort, and you’re basically paying for a day pass to use the restaurants facilities, including food and drink. It’s a little farther south than Nachi and Paradise, and our taxi cost us $30 US each way. (You may have to pay more if you need a bigger taxi; we only had three of us.)

I was impressed with the resort from the moment we arrived and checked in at the front desk. The check-in area was gorgeous, and once we had our bracelets that gave us access to the facilities, we sat down to eat in the nearby breakfast/buffet area. A little food and a mimosa was a perfect way to start the day!

We walked through the gorgeous property through the villas were hotel guests were staying. Our destination was the beach/pool area, which took about a 7-10 minute walk. Once we got there, we stayed at that area until it was time to leave.

The beach area with gorgeous, with plenty of chairs and shade. There was a bar right down by the beach where you could easily get beers and cocktails from your beach chairs.

I’m more of a pool person, and the large pool had a double-sided swim up bar with plenty of seats in the water (and in the shade, importantly). I was impressed by the top-shelf liquors available at all of the bars on the property, and the bartenders were fantastic and friendly.

Our day took a bit of a turn when some big thunderstorms rolled in during the early afternoon hours, cutting short our beach time. Fortunately, we were able to take shelter in the pool restaurant, which was large and had a buffet option. All food and drinks were included here, too!

I would definitely go back to Iberostar Waves again, especially with a group (to split the cab fare). You can buy day passes directly from the resort here.
