Now I remember why I love cruises so much… 😂

I’m finishing up a 5 night trip, starting in New York City and heading up to Canada. After a night in NYC, we headed up on the train to Montreal and, after a couple of nights, onward to Quebec City.

Because I was making this trip at the end of a two-week tour that took me to England and back across the ocean on the QM2, I had quite a bit of luggage with me, even though I’d tried to pack light. The carry-on suitcase and larger-sized backpack had become stuffed with souvenirs, and they were starting to get a little heavy.

Our first stop was Montreal, which we reached by train. This also included a three-block walk with our suitcases to the train station, and once we got to Montreal, a Lyft to the hotel. We were thankfully there for a couple of days and were able to get settled, a bit, so we could spend some time exploring the city.

On the day we left Montreal, I spent a decent amount of time wrangling things into my suitcases, then we headed back to the train station and up to Quebec City. We arrived late and made the very wise decision to take a taxi rather than walk to our hotel. (Quebec City is *very* hilly!)

Our hotel in QC was quirky and cute — and the room was also small. Opening up my luggage, the accumulated souvenirs of 2+ weeks spilled out onto every available inch of the floor. As I looked at it, I through about how it would all have to be put back together in just another day or so.

At the end of the day, I was able to visit three fantastic places in a short amount of time — but it felt like a lot of work. The thing is, you get to go to a lot of places on a cruise, too. In fact, sometimes you go to even more great places, and you only have to unpack (and ultimately, re-pack) once.

As much as I enjoyed this trip, it reminded me why cruising is still my favorite way to travel. Seeing multiple destinations is even more enjoyable when your hotel comes with you — and you only have to unpack once.
