I’m a big fan…of fans

Meet the cruise accessory you never knew you always needed

I still remember the first time I saw it: my friend reached into his pocket and pulled out a small piece of plastic, then he plugged it into his cell phone. And voila! He had a fan.

It seemed like magic.

Personal fans are having a bit of a moment, and let’s be honest — most cruises go to hot places. Here are a few options I recommend that you consider bringing with you on your cruise.

(These are Amazon Affiliate links, so I get a small commission if you purchase through them, at no cost to you.)

This magnetic wall-mounting fan is the real MVF (most valuable fan) to bring along on your cruise. Not only will it stick to magnetic cruise cabin walls, it even has a USB outlet you can plug into to charge your phone. I use it at night and plug it in every morning, so it’s charged when I go to bed the next night.

(Just don’t do what I did with my last one and accidentally leave it on the wall when you leave your cabin at the end of the cruise…oops. I hope my steward got to keep it and enjoy it!)

While some people like the horseshoe-shaped neck fans like this one, I’m a bigger fan of the ones with a cord that hang around your neck like this. I find it has a similar effect without a big piece of plastic lying against the back of your neck.

Oh yeah, and those cell-phone fans I mentioned earlier? Here’s a link to purchase a pack of 6 of them, so you can keep a few for yourself, and hand them out to the guests and crew you meet on the cruise. (I find the staff at CocoCay are especially appreciative. It’s hot there!)
